Key signs
Signs that may raise concern
No single sign is proof on its own, but certain behaviour changes can call for attention and dialogue.
Behavioural changes
Withdrawal, unusual anxiety, sleep or eating disturbances, or regression in young children.
Avoidance
Sudden fear of or refusal to go to a place, activity or person, without a clear explanation.
Unusual talk or play
Sexualised vocabulary or play that is not appropriate for the child's age.
Physical signs
Unexplained pain, injuries or disorders, which should be assessed by a health professional.
